A kill trap earns trust through consistent operation, appropriate target use and clear safeguards. The applicable Rewild trap configuration has recorded NAWAC testing passes for ferrets, stoats, Norway rats, ship rats and hedgehogs as New Zealand target species. A test pass is species- and configuration-specific, not a blanket product “approval”. Ask Rewild to confirm the exact K1 model, configuration, evidence and operating requirements.
Rewild can provide current information relevant to public conservation land, alongside placement and site-specific requirements. Independent K1 field-performance data and formal case studies are still being developed; a demonstration and defined evaluation plan can establish what your programme needs to know before a larger deployment.
Design changes who can do the work.
The K1 traces back to a user-centred design question: how could a mustelid trap work better for the people viewing, carrying, setting, clearing and maintaining it? Usability, operator safety, capture indication, portability, cleaning, non-target exclusion and consistent operation became core criteria—not optional extras.
Developed and made in Aotearoa New Zealand, the product keeps feedback close to the design and manufacturing team in rural Taranaki.
